1980s Mary MacFadden Couture Sequin GownIn 1975 Mary McFadden invented a pleated technique that was a nod to Fortuny but was done in a polyester fabric and whose pleating was permanent. This fabrication became her trademark and was considered cutting edge at the time. This particular gown is a wonderful example of how she worked that fabric in and used it in contrast with other textural elements.
